The opportunity
A PE backed transformation business is seeking an experienced CFO who can execute their buy & build strategy alongside organic international growth. The business has completed 2 acquisitions to date and hopes to grow EBIDTA to £15m in the next 3 years before an exit. The company has key hubs in the UK and US with significant revenues stemming from North America. The M&A strategy includes acquisitions in UK, US and across continental Europe. They are backed by a leading mid-market investor with a renowned reputation for successful buy & build.
The role
As the CFO you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategies as they pursue growth through mergers and acquisitions. Working closely with the CEO and the executive team, you will be a key driver in ensuring financial discipline, maximizing shareholder value, and implementing scalable financial processes. This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic finance leader to join a high-impact private equity-backed transformation business and shape its future success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with our business objectives and growth plans, leveraging M&A opportunities.
- Lead financial due diligence processes for potential acquisitions, assessing financial risks, opportunities, and integration plans.
- Drive financial analysis and modelling to support investment decisions, pricing strategies, and post-acquisition integration efforts.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and agility in financial reporting.
- Implement robust financial controls, systems, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate potential acquisition targets, negotiate deal terms, and execute successful integrations.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor financial performance, track synergies, and drive operational excellence.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the executive team, supporting strategic decision-making and business growth initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a CFO or a senior finance executive in a private equity-backed organisation (ideally professional services) with a focus on transformation and M&A.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, due diligence, valuation techniques, and post-acquisition integration strategies.
- Demonstrated success in executing complex M&A transactions and driving financial performance improvements.
- Solid knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax compliance in international markets.
- Excellent strategic thinking abilities, with the capacity to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
