    Overview

    Finatal are retained by a scaling, highly acquisitive and private equity backed professional services business which has revenues exceeding c.£250m +. The business is international and has several product offerings. Following a majority buyout from a mid-market private equity fund, the business now requires a Group Financial Controller (newly created). The successful candidate will be hands-on in contributing to change and scalability in partnership with the Director of Finance who has strong credentials across a breadth of sectors, and private equity transactions.

    The successful hire will have a strong background as a Group Controller and particularly adept on technical accounting. They will lead on the implementation of processes, controls and systems and critically assess and critique the function to contribute to the ambition of a ‘best-in-class’ environment. The successful candidate will establish a strong reporting structure, and lead on establishing consolidated group accounts, as well as the post deal integration of acquisitions.

    Applicants must have held a technical role (Group Financial Controller / Director of / or equivalent) and ambitious to establish a controls environment in a business which moves at pace! You must be a qualified accountant, have demonstrable experience in a scaling, acquisitive business which is leveraged (or backed by an institutional private equity fund) and offer examples of hands-on value creation projects and change.

    The role

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accountable for leading the group financial control function.  
    • Own key business processes including Board & Lender reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
    • Oversee on the preparation of all external reporting requirements, including quarterly lender reporting, consolidated group accounts, and all statutory accounts (under IFRS)
    • Managing the year end audit for the Group.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, integrations, and operational improvements.
    • Drive automation and optimization initiatives to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the scalability of our finance function.
    • Own and lead optimization of the NetSuite ERP system, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the business and supports strategic objectives.
    • Work closely with the Group Finance Director on ad hoc requests and demands raised by the private equity fund.
    • Manage financial reporting and analysis, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements, to provide transparency and visibility into financial performance.
    • Acquisition accounting; lead on the post-deal integration of acquisitions, and the alignment into the Group.

     

     

    The requirements

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
    • Experience working within a Private Equity-backed environment and familiarity with the dynamics of high-growth, acquisitive businesses.
    • Hands-on experience driving process efficiencies and system optimization, with a track record of successful implementation(s) as Group Financial Controller or equivalent.
    • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of financial reporting standards.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
