    The opportunity

Finatal are supporting a leading Ed-Tech business, embarking on a European roll-up. They’re backed by a brilliant mid-market PE fund, in the middle of their investment cycle and seeking an M&A Director to establish their M&A function.

    The role

    • As the M&A Director and first M&A hire, you will be responsible for building out the M&A function and leading all full-cycle M&A, from origination to close.
    • You will standardise the process for the completion of all M&A transactions.
    • You must originate all M&A deals and then funnel the pipeline to reveal the most viable acquisition targets.
    • All FDD will be outsourced, but you will be responsible for its review.
    • You must complete valuations and financial analysis on any acquisition targets.
    • Vendor management will also fall within your remit.
    • You will report into the CFO and engage regularly with the wider C-Suite.
    • You will oversee the integration of any acquired businesses, both operationally and culturally.
    • Ensuring the alignment of organic and inorganic growth strategies is essential and you will need to evaluate the best way to maximise value creation through acquisitions, to ensure that the fund achieves their desired valuation on exit.

    The requirements

    • Suitable candidates will likely be 8+ years post-ACA / ACCA or equivalent qualification.
    • You must have extensive in-house experience leading full-cycle M&A, with specific emphasis on the origination piece.
    • Prior experience leading education / tech deals is essential – ideally in the lower/mid market.
    • You will be brilliant at communicating and confident in presenting complex ideas to a wider, non-M&A audience.
    • You must have exceptional leadership capabilities to allow you to effectively build out a team around you in the future.
