    Finatal are retained by an acquisitive, data-driven B2B service who are backed by a prominent mid-market Private Equity firm. With a strategic focus on growth and a drive towards an exit in the next 18 months, the business are on a transformational journey to professionalise and upgrade across the function as a whole.

    With a new CFO in post, who comes from a highly accomplished, data intensive background, we are seeking an ambitious Head of Finance to lead the current team and fact find, transform, and provide clarity to empower commercial decisions. The right candidate will have determination to develop as the business scales, have a methodical approach to growth and is adaptive. They will have the ability to lead, partner, influence and develop to raise the finance function whilst building relationships.

    The business are a highly data complex environment, so candidates coming from a data intensive background would be suitable.

     

     

    The role

    The Role

    • Provide business partnership support to the senior leadership team and be a commercial adviser on improving performance (business initiatives / projects / etc.). Drive commercial insights and recommend actions that will improve EBITDA and cashflow. Challenge and hold other areas of the business to account on business plan delivery.
    • Manage the monthly MI, P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting process, including consolidation processes across the Business (including one-offs reporting, risk management reporting, initiative reporting in P&L/KPIs).
    • Maintain a robust financial control environment, ensuring that risks are adequately mitigated with appropriate controls and processes are constantly challenged. Ensure up to date and robust balance sheet reconciliations, with risks and opportunities appropriately reported and managed.
    • Manage the business’s compliance under its financing agreements. Monitor and manage the business’s financial position and associated debt levels against covenants. Ensure the Business has clear cash flow targets and delivers cash initiatives that improve cashflow.
    • Deliver, lead and advise on change management projects (new systems, new products, new markets, etc.), influencing other non-finance teams to achieve a successful completion. Ability to impact and project manage cross departmental teams.
    • Understand the performance drivers of the business and challenge the risks & opportunities to delivering forecast. Working with the senior management team, determine contingencies in case of poor trading conditions and opportunities that can be leveraged in the case of good trading.
    • Own the preparation of robust business cases in liaison with relevant business owners and the CFO, including financial benefits analysis and risk management.
    • Manage the preparation of Board presentations in conjunction with the FP&A Analyst. Ensure the strategy is properly articulated in conjunction with the senior management team and CFO and progress is accurately tracked.
    • Lead and manage the planning & budgeting process in conjunction with the FP&A Analyst for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow and all key KPIs. Assist the CFO to challenge the strategy, 3 year plan and budget.
    • Take ownership of financial processing (i.e. accounts payable, credit control, etc,) to deliver best in class service levels and efficient transaction processing.
    • Deliver continuous improvement in the efficiency, quality and consistency of accounting and reporting.
    • Oversee the annual audit process, tax and other regulatory reporting processes.
    • Lead and support the development for the finance team. Promote a culture of excellence across the team and wider division. Cultivate a high performing finance team with succession plans in place at every level.
    • Support due diligence processes within the business, from both a buy-side and sell-side perspective.
    • Deputise for the CFO and collaborate with senior stakeholders to develop and embed clear standards of quality and service.

     

     

    The requirements

    • Qualified ACA/ACCA or similar
    • Experienced finance professional with a minimum of 8 years' experience, strong technical knowledge and good commercial finance experience in industry is preferable.
    • Experience of leading and development teams.
    • Demonstrable ability to build strong, scalable systems and procedures.
    • Business partnering & strategic skills - ability to challenge and influence at senior levels.
    • Able to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
    • Desire to dive into the detail when required.
    • Great flexibility and resilience with ability to adapt and work effectively in a variety of situations with different individuals or groups.
    • Strong modelling and excel skills with ability to process and summarise large amount of data.
    • Proactive in dealing with issues.
    • Ability to work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met.

    Finatal are working with a leading mid-market investor who require an experienced interim CFO to guide their professional services asset through a financial transformation. This circa £90m t/o business was acquired circa 12 months ago after having undergone a period of significant growth and the investors are now seeking an accomplished Private Equity CFO to play a key role in reshaping the financial success of their distressed asset through leading a critical refinancing programme.

    You’ll be working closely with the CEO and the investors who have a successful track record in distressed asset turnarounds. They are looking for an individual who able to adopt a ‘hands-on’ approach to make crucial executive decisions and drive a significant restructuring of the business in a highly leveraged environment.

    You’ll be responsible for liaising with banks and lenders on all negotiations. One of your first tasks as interim CFO will be to quickly run a full diagnostic on this asset and its subsidiaries to better understand the company’s cash position, covenants position, and ultimately initiate a restructuring plan that will enable them to scale internationally in the future.
