Financial Controller

I am retained on a search with a fast growth, private equity backed payment as a service business (c.£40m t/o) continuing their aggressive growth journey in London and across major cities in America and Europe. Following a successful fundraising round in 2022 with a major mid-market private equity fund, the business is looking for a dynamic, ambitious Financial Controller to report directly into the CFO and lead the finance function through a transformational year whilst working with the board and stakeholders on strategy. My client is a major player in a c.$250 billion market and require a candidate that can contribute to the exponential growth plans. 

• Proactive, timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting every month- and year-end  
• Partnering with our FP&A function to consistently turn financial data into actionable intelligence, and then following through to “make things happen” with the data  
• Coaching, mentoring, managing, and developing the Accounting Team  
• Representing the company in matters pertaining to audit, tax, and valuation  
• Ensuring adequate controls are implemented and policies are enforced  
• Managing, assessing, and acting on all aspects of cash flow analysis, AP, AR, inventory and expenses 
• Owning financial systems, consistently optimizing our order-to-cash cycles 
• Oversee rolling 12-month cash forecast, communicate actionable insights, and take actions to proactively manage cash  
• Manage systems implementations, act as Product Owner, ensure systems expertise within Finance team and the Controller role  
• Supply Chain Build and implement processes to govern suppliers, optimizing arrangements in the businesses favour including terms and costs Cost control  
• Partner with FP&A team to report and communicate actionable insights in all areas of spend, lead and support actions Capital structure Manage the administration of financing activities including debt and equity Treasury  
• Partner with CFO on building and implementing cash management strategies including investments and FX risk mitigation and optimize corporate insurances Audit  
• Own the annual audit process including engagement with audit firm, filing accounts within 4 months of year-end Valuation  
• Own all tax processes including engagement with outside tax firm Equity compensation  
• Own the administration and accounting of the company’s equity-based compensation program Payroll  
• Oversee the execution of a timely and accurate payroll and related processes 

• 8+ years’ experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities with at least two years in a leadership role  
• Chartered/Certified Accountant status  
• Bachelor’s in Accounting, MBA/MSA is a plus  
• A high motor and a passion for how finance and accounting influence the business  
• Experience working in high growth (preferably, private equity backed) environments  
• Experience in SaaS  
• Solid understanding of GAAP and its practical applications 
• Hands-on and in-depth expertise with financial systems  
• Evolved management skills with a track record of team building, mentoring and effective change management  
• Strong, effective, and refined communication with the ability to communicate throughout the organization in a candid and transparent manner
