    The opportunity

    Finatal are mandated by an award-winning professional services business, embarking on a buy and build project across the UK. They’re backed by a brilliant mid-market PE fund and are seeking their first M&A hire to build out their M&A function and lead on all full-cycle acquisitions.

     

    The role

    • As the first M&A hire, you will establish the business’ M&A function, reporting directly into the CFO.
    • There is a pre-existing pipeline, but you must funnel the pipeline such as to identify the best possible acquisition targets. 
    • You will carry out complex valuations on prospective acquisitions to ensure that they’re economically viable.
    • Financial modelling will also fall within your remit. 
    • FDD is outsourced, but you must coordinate due diligence streams as they come back into the business.  
    • You will be responsible for engaging with and managing vendors throughout the transaction life cycle. 
    • You will carry out 100 day planning to ensure the best possible handover to the COO for integration.
    • You must work closely alongside the C-Suite to ensure that inorganic and organic growth strategies are aligned to ensure the fund achieved its desired valuation on exit. 
    • As deal volumes increase, you will build out the M&A Team and delegate responsibility.

    The requirements

    • Likely ACA / ACCA qualified, or equivalent.
    • You must have extensive experience working on full-cycle M&A deals across the lower-mid market.
    • Ideal candidates will also have experience running in-house M&A deals.
    • You must be entirely financially literate to ensure your ability to carry out complex valuations.
    • You will be incredibly personable to ensure the best possible engagement with vendor run businesses.
    • Impeccable drive and a hard-working attitude are necessary for your alignment with company ethos.

    Finatal is exclusively searching for a Divisional Finance Director to join a PE backed Construction business going through an impressive, buy-and-build driven, period of rapid growth. Candidates with exit and transaction experience will likely have an edge, particularly if ACA or equiv, qualified. Candidates MUST have construction (property, infrastructure, engineering etc) experience, in particular, financial contracts experience ranging from week long projects up to a year. You will be working alongside a highly qualified CFO who is eager to share his expertise and is planning to retire post exit, leaving opportunity to progress. The company is set to exit in the next 12-18months so need someone dedicated, driven and well-practiced within the construction, and ideally PE space. 

    You will be responsible for a team of 10 whilst diversifying and professionalising the finance function to further acquisitions and aid in a smooth and successful exit. Whilst liaising with stakeholders and investors, you will also be reporting directly into the CFO. Additionally, candidates will be tasked with galvanising improvements of financial systems, processes, and controls.

    Requirements:

    • Candidates who are ACA, or ACCA if ample private equity and exit experience is provided.
    • MUST have Construction (or infrastructure, engineering, property development, housebuilders etc) and short term financial contract experience. This is essential.
    • Able to commute, for up to 3 days a week
    • Has experience with M&A/Buy-and-builds
    • Ideally have gone through at least one exit, or if that exit was unsuccessful, done the preparation work behind it.
